Why Card Transactions Occasionally Fail…⛔

There are a couple of reasons why you may be unable to fund your account periodically. These issues arise when you try to fund your account from your debit card.

Insufficient Funds: This occurs when the funds in your bank account are less than the automated debit instruction or the card is linked to two accounts and the default account is not funded at all.

Issuer or Switch Inoperative: This occurs when a data exchange between our systems and your bank is unsuccessful. This can be attributed to a system downtime, or poor network connection on the receiving end of the transaction.

Multiple linked accounts: Sometimes, your card can be linked to more than one account (Current and Savings) and the default account may not be profiled for online use.

Non-Profiled Card: This occurs when the debit card you are attempting to use is either not profiled for online transactions (Verified by Visa or MasterCard Secure) for Visa and MasterCard holders. If unsure about the status of your card, kindly contact your bank for more information

Expired or Blocked card: When you attempt to use a card that has been blocked or has expired, your transactions will be declined.

Daily Limit Exceeded: Your transaction can also be declined if you have exceeded your daily withdrawal limit for online transactions on your card or you are attempting to deposit an amount greater than your daily limit. If in doubt about your transaction limit, we advise that you reach out to your bank.

OTP not received: When this happens, you need to confirm that you are still in possession of the phone number registered to the bank account you are attempting to debit.

If an automated deposit fails for any of the above reasons, you can always use the Top up function to ensure that your savings goals are met.

In summary, if you notice that you are unable to deposit money using your card after numerous attempts, and you’ve checked all the boxes above, kindly contact your bank or attempt to make a deposit with another card.
